Common questions
- Why does trimming take as long as the section itself?
- A browser has no way to re-assemble a video. Instead it actually plays the chosen section and captures the picture and sound as they go — so trimming 10 seconds takes about 10 seconds. This is not a workaround but the only route available in a browser, which is why the remaining time is shown plainly.
- Does the quality drop?
- It is captured again, so it is not bit-for-bit identical to the original. In exchange, the file is never uploaded anywhere. If you need the original quality intact, an editing program is the better tool.
- Why is it saved as webm?
- It picks the most widely supported of the formats a browser can capture. webm opens in current browsers and in most editing tools.
- I want to drop the sound.
- Turn off “keep the sound” and only the picture is captured.
