Crop a PDF — strip the wide margins off a scanned document or a paper PDF. It narrows the visible box rather than re-baking pages as images, so the text stays selectable and searchable.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF
  2. Check the red line in the preview
  3. Adjust how much margin to keep
  4. Crop and download

Common questions

Does cropping make the text unselectable?
No, it stays selectable. Pages are not baked into images — only the visible box is narrowed. The file size barely changes either.
Is the cropped-off content deleted?
No. It is only hidden, and another program can undo it later. To remove it for good, use the PDF redaction tool.
Pages ending up different sizes would be awkward.
“Same size for every page” is the default. One box that encloses every page is used, so nothing jumps as you page through.
The margins are not being cropped.
A single scan speck in a corner counts as content. Try raising “ignore faint specks”.
Why crop margins at all?
On a phone or an e-reader the text appears far larger in the same screen. It also saves paper when printing.
