Computes BMI from height and weight and shows the Korean obesity-society bands next to the WHO international ones. The weight range that lands in the normal band is calculated too.

How to use it

  1. Enter your height
  2. Enter your weight
  3. Compare how the two standards read it
  4. Check the weight range that counts as normal

Common questions

Why are there two thresholds?
The WHO treats 30 and above as obese, while the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity holds that Asian populations carry more health risk at the same BMI and puts the line at 25. Health checks in Korea generally use the latter.
Can BMI tell me whether I am healthy?
Only loosely. It cannot tell muscle from fat, so people who train read higher than they are, and someone with little muscle can read “normal” while carrying a lot of body fat. Treat it as a rough indicator and confirm anything real with a doctor.
What is the formula?
Weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. At 170cm that means dividing by 1.7 × 1.7 = 2.89.
