- Why a row of sentences instead of one calculator?
- Percentage questions use a different formula depending on which way round you ask. A single set of boxes leaves you guessing what goes where, so each question is written out as its own line.
- Why do the increase and decrease not match?
- 100 raised by 20% is 120, but getting from 120 back to 100 takes about 16.7% off, not 20% — because the number you measure against has changed.
- Where do I calculate a price after a discount?
- Use the “take N% off” line. For adding something on, like tax, use the “add N%” line.
