Fade audio in and out to kill the click at the start and end of a clip you cut. It measures where and how sharp the discontinuity is first, then applies only as much fade as that needs.
How to use it
- Choose an audio file
- See where the abrupt edges are
- Hit "Just enough to fix the click"
- Apply the fade and download
Common questions
- Why is there a click?
- When a cut lands where the waveform is not at zero, the sound ends abruptly and the speaker turns that jump into a click. Easing the start and end down for a moment removes it.
- Why not just use a long fade?
- A three-second fade on a short clip smears it. This tool measures the amplitude at the edges and takes only as much as is needed.
- Does the whole thing get quieter?
- Only the edges are touched. The middle is untouched.
- Do video files work?
- The audio is extracted from the video and processed. The result comes out as an audio file.
- Where does the audio get uploaded?
- Nowhere. It is handled inside your browser only.
