- Why split into sentences?
- Hand a long text to the browser in one go and it stops partway (a long-standing Chrome habit). So it is split and handed over one sentence at a time.
- Why not just split on full stops?
- Because "3.14", "Mr." and a question mark inside quotes all break. Cut in the middle of a number and it reads "three point" "fourteen".
- Is my text uploaded anywhere?
- No. The reading is done by the voices already in your browser (speechSynthesis).
