Converts between running pace (time per km) and speed, and works backwards from a goal time to the pace you need to hold.
How to use it
- Enter a pace or a speed
- See the finish time for each race distance
- Enter a goal time to get the pace it needs
Common questions
- How do pace and speed differ?
- Pace is how many minutes it takes you to run a kilometre; speed is how many kilometres you cover in an hour. They are reciprocals, so either one fixes the other.
- Why does working it out by hand go wrong?
- Pace is minutes and seconds — base 60 — while speed is decimal. Treating 6 minutes 30 as 6.3 throws the result off.
- Are the half and full marathon distances exact?
- They use the official distances: 21.0975km for the half and 42.195km for the full.
