Open STL and OBJ 3D files straight in the browser and turn them around. It also tells you the triangle count and the width, depth and height. The file never leaves your device.
How to use it
- Choose an STL or OBJ file (both text and binary STL work)
- Drag to turn it, wheel or two fingers to zoom
- Check the triangle count and the size below
- If you need it, save the current angle as a PNG
Common questions
- Does the file go up to a server?
- No. Reading it and drawing it both finish inside the browser. It opens with the internet cut off.
- Is the size in mm?
- STL and OBJ carry numbers without a unit, so the numbers are shown without one. Software on the 3D-printing side usually reads them as mm.
- What about glTF, FBX and 3MF?
- Not yet. STL and OBJ are simple formats that hold only the shape, so they can be read without a library; glTF and FBX also carry materials and animation and are a different thing altogether.
- The model does not show the colours in the file?
- STL has no colour at all, and an OBJ’s colours live in a separate file (.mtl). For now only the shape is drawn, in a single colour.
