Remove EXIF data from a photo — the shooting location, camera and timestamp hidden inside it. Image quality is untouched, and the photo never leaves your browser.
How to use it
- Add a JPG photo
- See what is hidden inside
- Strip it and download
Common questions
- Do photos really carry a location?
- Phone cameras record the coordinates of where the shot was taken by default. That is how a single photo posted to a marketplace or social media can reveal where someone lives. This tool shows you what is in there first — “it has been removed” is hard to trust on its own.
- Does the quality drop?
- No. The photo is not redrawn; only the metadata block inside the file is cut out. Not one byte of the image data changes. Redrawing through a canvas would strip the data but shave the quality once more.
- Where does the photo get uploaded?
- Nowhere. Uploading a photo to an unfamiliar server in order to remove its location data would defeat the purpose.
- Does it handle PNG?
- JPG only. PNG files rarely carry capture location.
- Will the photo end up rotated?
- The orientation flag is removed along with the rest, so some programs may show it turned. If that happens, rotate it in the image editor and save.
