Speeds up or slows down a lecture recording or meeting audio. Playing it faster normally turns the voice into a chipmunk; this keeps the pitch and changes only the length.

How to use it

  1. Choose an audio file
  2. Pick a speed (1.5× · 2×)
  3. Hit Change it and have a listen
  4. Download it

Common questions

Will the voice sound strange?
By default the pitch is left alone. The sound is cut into short pieces and the overlaps are melted together, adjusting only the spacing. Turn off “keep the voice” and the pitch shifts with the speed, the old-fashioned way.
Can it slow things down as well?
Yes, down to 0.5×. For transcription, or replaying a passage you could not catch, 0.75× is usually the useful one.
Do video files work?
The audio is extracted from the video and adjusted. The result comes out as an audio file.
Where does the file get uploaded?
Nowhere. It is handled inside your browser only.
Does speeding it up hurt the quality?
Pull it too far and the seams become audible. Speech takes up to 2× comfortably; music is better with only a small change.
