Common questions
- What does a contrast ratio of 4.5:1 mean?
- It is the minimum contrast the WCAG accessibility guidelines ask for on body text. 4.5 or more meets AA, 7 or more meets AAA, and text at 18pt and above passes at 3:1.
- The CMYK values differ from what my printer says.
- Screens (RGB) and print (CMYK) cover different ranges, and an accurate conversion needs a colour profile. The values here are a profile-less approximation, so use professional tools for print proofing.
- How is the harmony palette built?
- By rotating the angle on the HSL colour wheel: 180° for the complement, 120° and 240° for the triad, and ±30° for the analogous colours.
