How to use it

  1. Search by number, character or name (65, 0x41, LF)
  2. Use the chips to show only letters, digits or control codes
  3. Click a row to copy the character (control codes copy as decimal)

Common questions

What is the difference between ASCII and Unicode?
ASCII is an early standard that defines only 128 characters; Unicode contains those same 128 and adds the writing systems of the world. In UTF-8 the ASCII range is still one byte.
Is keyCode the same value as the ASCII code?
No. The keyCode on a keyboard event is based on key position, so it can disagree with the character code. If you need the key itself, use the keyboard event code table.
Why is there nothing above 128?
128–255 is called extended ASCII, but there is no single standard for it — it differs by environment. Only the standard range is listed here to avoid the confusion.
